Paneer Tikka Masala Recipe Home Cooking

Paneer Tikka Masala is a Paneer or Indian Cheese based very flavorful, aromatic dish. This dish is basically popular in North side of India. Marinated Paneer with the spicy tomato gravy makes dish delightful. This curry is a side dish as well go with Tandoori Rotis, Chapatis, Naan, Kulcha, Dosa etc. Paneer Tikka is very versatile dish which can be grilled, fried or boiled.

Ingredients for Marinating of Paneer:

Paneer – ½ pound (Homemade or brought from the store)
Yogurt- 1tbsp
Coriander Powder- 1tsp
Red Chilli powder- ½tsp
Ginger paste- 1tbsp
Salt – ½tsp
Oil – 1tbsp

Preparation:

· First slice the Paneer as per you like. Paneer looks good if we cut it into cubes or you may slice it about 1/8th inch thick.
· Now marinate the Paneer cubes. Take all Paneer cubes in a bowl. Add yogurt, red chilli powder, Coriander powder, Ginger paste, salt and mix all these ingredients well.
· Keep this Paneer mixture in refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
· After the Paneer mixture get ready, add oil to a flat pan. Make sure that the pan is well greased. Put all Paneer slices when oil becomes hot enough.
· Fry Paneer in medium flame till the color turns into golden brown. Then flip or turn slices gently to the other side with the help of a spatula and let it cook for a minute.
· Off the flame when both a sides of Paneer get a brown color and keep a side separately.

Ingredients for Gravy:
Tomatoes – 4 (medium sized)
Green chilli – 1
Oil – 1tbsp
Cumin seeds or Jeera – 1tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼tsp
Hing or Asafetida – 1 pinch
Bay leaves- 2nos
Coriander Powder- 1tsp
Red chilli powder or Peprika – ½tsp
Salt – ½ tsp (adjust to your taste)
Corn starch – 1tsp
Sugar- ½tsp
Garam Masala powder- 1tsp
Coriander leaves – 3tbsp

Preparation of Paneer Tikka:

· First of all we make tomato gravy for Paneer Tikka. Cut medium sized tomatoes and put it in a mixy jar.
· Add chopped Green chilli to the jar. Then grind it finely, now tomato puree is ready.
· Place a pan on stove and put Oil in it. Heat the oil in medium flame.
· Add Cumin seeds. As it starts splutter add Hing, Turmeric powder, bay leaves. Fry these spices about a minute.
· Immediately pour the tomato gravy or puree to the pan. Keep stirring it for some while nicely.
· At this stage we are going to add rest spices i.e., coriander powder, red chilli powder, salt and sugar to taste.
· As the tomato gravy turns into nice orange color, add Garam Masala powder.
· Take corn starch and 1tsp water, mix it well. Add this to the Tomato gravy. Corn starch basically gives thickness to the gravy. If you feel the consistency of gravy is too dense then add little bit of water.
· Once Gravy is ready put marinated paneer slices. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
· At last garnish the Paneer Tikka Masala with chopped Coriander Leaves.

Now delicious, exotic Paneer Tikka masala is ready to serve.
Enjoy it with Rotis, Chpathis or Naan.
